APPLY FOR FSE WORKING STUDENT

Ever wanted to get your foot in the door to work in the horse industry, but not quite sure how? Do you want to become a student of the horse to gain the skills necessary to work with horses for a living? Do you dream of having your own barn one day? Are you a hard worker, but finances keep you from the education you crave? Have you been a working student before? Check out our working student program today. FSE prides themselves on bringing up the next generation of trainers, instructors, and barn managers. We can teach you the skills required to run your own barn one day, and connect with other barns in the area.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Formal typed resume submitted

  • Previous working student experience/horse experience (whether a previous employment status or personal horse ownership)

  • Good work ethic

  • Reliability (transportation/showing up on time)

  • Teachable mindset

  • Team Player

  • Love of horses and learning all the things related to their care

  • Desire to work hard

  • Initiative to find tasks that need to be done once trained

TIPS

  • If you have never typed a resume there is many free templates you can download online to use. Microsoft Office on the web is free and has plenty to pick from. The goal is to set you up for success no matter where you decide to go after your time at FSE.

  • Don't have any horse experience, but still would like to get your foot in the door? Contact us about our shadowing program. We offer that as well to work people up to be an  independent working student. Everybody starts somewhere!

  • Make sure the barn is close enough for you to travel regularly before applying. Working students are not paid monetarily. Your payment is education in and out of the saddle for your work/time. (like horse college) We understand that may be a deal breaker for some, so check your maps and please be realistic. We'd hate to waste anyone's time if its going to cause a hardship for you to get out a few days a week.

  • In your interview bring up your goals and expectations you would like out of your learning so we can make sure to provide those for your hard work.

RECRUITMENT AWARENESS

  • FSE is a learning environment. There will be saddle time of course, but please be mindful that this is a internship designed to teach everything related to horses. Not just the riding portion.

  • FSE is bullying/ drama/ abuse free environment. We have a no tolerance policy for it. Anyone caught doing so will be ejected from the program.

  • FSE is exploitation free. We value each student and strive to display teamwork to prevent burnout in this industry.

  • All candidates will need to go through Safesport training once signed on
